In Year 4, we have many fun things planned for the year ahead. Our first topic will be ‘Knowing me, knowing you!’ which will cover famous inspirational people and artists who concentrate on the human form. In science, we will test our bodies to see what they are capable of doing.
Later in the term, we will learn about all aspects of life in India. Our Spring topics will be ‘Ancient Egypt,’ and then ‘The past under our feet’, including a trip to the National Coal Mining Museum. Finally, in the Summer Term our topics will be, ‘Our place in the world,’ and ‘Outwood Outdoors’.
In May, we will be taking the children on a residential visit to Cober Hill near Scarborough. We will visit the beach, build dens and visit a farm.
Swimming takes place on Fridays at Normanton Swimming Baths. 4C will be going from September until February half term and then it will be the turn of 4M.
Our community project for the year is, ‘The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association’. We will be finding out about how the dogs are trained, how we can help by fundraising or volunteering, and how a dog helps a partially sighted or blind person in their daily life.
