Celebrating the End of the War (topic)

To celebrate the term of learning about World War II, years 4 and 5 held a special afternoon of VE-style celebrations for themselves and family including readings, food and a sing-along.

WW2 Potato Scones Rations Recipe

Ingredients:

4 tablespoons of mashed potato

4 tablespoons of self-raising flour

1 tablespoon of margarine

1 teaspoon of baking powderimg_20161122_143325

½ teaspoon of salt

Instructions:

  • Add the flour, salt and baking powder to a large bowl and mix together well
  • Add the mashed potato and margarine
  • Knead the ingredients together to make a kind of dough. Add a splash of milk if needed
  • Roll out until approximately 1cm thick
  • Place in a pre-heated oven (180c) for approximately 20 mins or until golden brown
  • Cut into smaller pieces as desired
  • Best eaten as an accompaniment to stew or broth to ‘dunk’
