We use a wide variety of programmes to support learning of computing at Rook’s Nest.  The platforms we use to teach programming are Bee-bots, Scratch, among others.  The children learn programming in a physical then visual environment and in Year 6 progress to basic text programming using Python.

In Digital Literacy, the children learn many different skills including word processing, spreadsheets and design work.  They will learn about animation using stop-motion techniques and they learn to write, produce and edit video work.

We introduce them to the use of blogs and emails using these techniques to enhance their knowledge of internet safety.12
