Children can continue to develop their reading skills from home by accessing all of the Oxford reading tree books for free on the https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/for-home/find-a-book/library-page/ website. All you need to do is register an account (for free) and all of the various stages of books are there. You can then read them on a tablet or computer. I know it’s not quite the same as an actual book but I hope that this helps.
Also, here is a list of the first 100 words that children need to learn to read and write https://www.highfrequencywords.org/hfw100fp.pdf . It could be fun to create games involving these words such as snakes and ladders (read the words on the square to move), naughts and crosses (read/write a certain word to place the naught or cross) or maybe draw a running track with chalk and write words at different points that the children have to read. Get creative!
