Rook’s Nest Academy Mini Newsletter
Issue 12 – July 2020
Normally at this time of year your child would be eager to take home their long awaited school report. As with all school activities this will be somewhat different. The Year 6 children leaving us will receive their school reports during the week beginning July 6th (The reports of the Y6 children not in attendance at the academy will be available for collection from the front office during that week) . The remainder of the academy will receive their school reports early in September.
All children will receive a full written report based on their attainment and efforts leading up to the lockdown in March. Additionally, those children remaining with us will have an extra section written by their new teacher. This will focus on individual targets for children to concentrate on. This will be followed by our autumn parents evening later that term.
Next week Y6 will be taking part in PHSE lessons about Puberty. These lessons will focus on emotional and physical changes using BBC age appropriate resources. Boys and girls will be taught in separate groups. Y6 children who are currently not attending the academy will be able to access these resources via links available on their class page, from the Rook’s Nest Academy website.
Music
We have a number of places available beginning in September for children going into Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 for instrumental lessons. At the moment, we are not sure what format these will follow, but we need to get a rough idea of numbers.
Piano lessons are 1 to 1 at a cost of £10 per week for a half hour lesson.
Drum lessons are 1 to 1 at a cost of £62 per term for a ten minute lesson.
Violin lessons are small groups at a cost of £62 per term for a 20 minute lesson.
Keyboard, flute, clarinet and guitar are small groups at a cost of £40 per term for a 20 minute lesson.
Spaces are limited so if you are interested, please phone school as soon as possible to register your interest. If places are full, you will be placed on a waiting list. Children who have started lessons previously will automatically be part of these lessons next year. Please inform Mrs Hartley if you no longer wish to continue with instrumental lessons.
Don’t forget our Virtual Sports Day which is for children in all years across the Academy running until Sunday 12th July, before our in school socially distanced sports day for children currently attending school
This will take place during the final week of term. More information available here
Stay Safe and do your best in the Virtual Sports Day.
