Rook’s Nest Academy Newsletter – #47 11th December 2020

Rook’s Nest Academy Newsletter

Issue 47 – 11th December 2020

Dear Parent/Carers,

Newsletter 11/12/20

Thank you for sending in your raffle money. It helped raise £110 towards school funds. The large hamper was won by a child in year 1 and Mrs Hornshaw (staff) won the Christmas Eve hamper.

Answering your INSET questions.

You may be aware that the Government made a suggestion that schools, should they wish to, could put an INSET day in for the final Friday of this term. The SLT and governors have considered the small benefits of this action against the disruption it would cause to parents and children at such short notice. It has therefore been decided that the school will not close on Thursday 17th but continue with its planned week and finish for Christmas on Friday 18th.

Reminder about boosters

Thank you if your child has been attending the booster sessions this half term. A reminder that the last session was this Wednesday and they children will all finish at their normal times on Wednesday 16th December (no boosters on that day).

Still to come.

Next week, the class songs will be uploaded onto the website (search for them under ‘music’). The final performance has been recorded today. Friday the 18th will be Christmas jumper day. Any donations sent in will be put towards the “Spend a Penny Project”.

Parking complaints

I have been contacted by the Rook’s Nest Community Neighbourhood watch representative who is again kindly requesting that parents do not park in the residents only carpark just off Rook’s Nest Road. We have also had some parents’ cars damaged while parked up so can I again remind parents of the offer Cheers have made for parents to use their carpark. In this way children, residents and cars will all be safer.

What have we been up to in school this week?

Eating our lovely Christmas Dinners

Enjoying the great outdoors with Forest Schools

Final festive fun

Father Christmas has agreed to stop over for a short visit to Nursery on Thursday – socially distance of course. This year, every child has received a Christmas gift from the Academy – a skipping rope. The children have loved being able to use these at playtimes. Unfortunately, due to Covid restrictions we cannot send the ropes home at this point but in the New Year each class will have a daily skipping time built into the day.
